The Big Smoke’s third and final variety show of 2023 is about creating home. How do we find comfort and hope in difficult situations or places? How do we bring light to darkness? In addition to an exciting mix of music, comedy, and our favourite regular segment, Victorian Parlour Games, our very special guest will be Ali Ghaderi.
Ali is an activist, actor and advocate for refugees and human rights in Europe and the UK. One year ago he founded the Babylon Migrants Project, a nonprofit organisation running projects to empower refugees, migrants and asylum seekers through creativity and community. All proceeds from this episode will be given to the Babylon Project to help continue their important work.
The Big Smoke
The Big Smoke is a brand-new monthly variety show which takes its inspiration from classic TV variety shows and late-night chat shows with a theatrical bent towards exploring the ancient rituals of gathering and community. In our world, where the algorithms of social media are driving humanity further and further apart, The Big Smoke, by its very nature, will bring unexpected audiences together for a variety show, the likes of which they have never seen.
