Sub Zero Jazz presents the Harry Brunt Quartet, featuring Harry Brunt on tenor saxophone, Billy Marrows on guitar, Flo Moore on double bass and Rod Oughton on drums.
Harry Brunt is a London based saxophonist and composer. Harry has performed at a host of venues across the UK, including Kansas Smitty’s, Vortex Jazz Club, Pizza Express Live, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Lovebox Festival, The Ritz, The Tate Modern and Boomtown Festival. In addition to this, Harry has worked with artist including Jean Carne and Tony Momrelle from Incognito.
Originally from Wiltshire, Harry began playing saxophone at the age of 10. Whilst at school, he studied with Pat Crumly and was chosen to perform alongside John Critchinson and the Ronnie Scott’s Legacy Band when they visited his school. This experience drove harry to seek further tuition from another great saxophonist, the legendary Pee Wee Ellis. After leaving school Harry was playing constantly in groove, hiphop and reggae groups which led him to represent Northern Europe in the final of the Rototom European Reggae Competition in Italy and to support esteemed artists such as Lee Scratch Perry and Akala. In addition to this, Harry achieved a Bachelor’s of Arts in English Literature from Cardiff University.
In 2015, Harry graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with a asters degree in jazz performance. it was at RWCMD that harry studied with Iain Ballamy and Geoff Simkins. Whilst studying, Harry was awarded funding to compose for, promote and perform a concert of jazz with strings in the beautiful Dora Stoutzker Concert Hall, Cardiff. He was also to be found performing regularly in the Royal Welsh College and local jazz venues. Constantly striving to develop and grow, harry played in Barak Schmool’s ‘Rhythms of the City’ and studied with James Allsopp after leaving college and moving to London. Harry can now be seen playing frequently with co-led project, Howl Quartet. Howl Quartet released their debut album, ‘Life As We See It’ in March 2021.

In addition to his commitments as a performer, Harry regularly teaches woodwinds and is currently undertaking a second masters degree in jazz at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
